Tennis court repair, surfacing, maintena

The following projects are offered as an example of our experience. We have also completed projects that just require line marking, court cleaning, crack and surface leveling.

Town Of Petrolia
The Town owns two public courts centrally located in the community. Over the years, various attempts to keep the courts in playable condition have been undertaken. These attempts included installing road crack sealing compounds and driveway asphalt surfacing products. While the Town’s budget limited any restoration work, a localjunior tennis player needed somewhere to train and decided to raise the money to get the job done. His efforts were capped with a significant contribution from Milos Raonic. JUSTFOURTENNIS competed for and won the job to bring the courts back to playable condition. The work included the use of hot water high pressure cleaning to remove the driveway resurfacer, extensive work to remove all crack sealing compounds and new surfacing tests. Inappropriate court line paint had also caused the existing asphalt to spall requiring the removal of all loose asphalt along court lines.
SportMaster Patch Binder was used to repair all of the latter including damage around net posts and many bird bathes. JUSTFOURTENNIS also installed innovative net center band anchors with minimal disruption to the existing asphalt pavement.

SportMaster Resurfacer was installed to reduce surface porosity allowing for the application of an even, full depth coloured playing surface.
Two coats of SportMaster ColourCoat were installed along with white court lines for tennis and yellow court lines for pickleball. While the completed project provides an excellent playing surface, some of the repaired cracks will return and will require further attention. The Town considered the latter as an acceptable approach while preparing for the construction of new courts in the not too distant future

Lambton College
The College had recently installed a recreational pad, primarily for basketball use. The surface was concrete with control joints installed at 12’ centers. JUSTFOURTENNIS were retained to provide surfacing and basketball court lines. The new concrete had been “float” finished which provides a very smooth surface which is not compatible with surfacing products. Under controlled conditions, muriatic acid was applied at specially diluted rates to “etch” the concrete and provide a course surface suitable for resurfacing. Prior to the installation of SportMaster Resurfacer, we installed SportMaster Adhesion Promoter which, as the name suggests, improves the adhesive properties of the Resurfacer. Three coats of SportMaster ColourCoat were installed along with basketball lines.

Stratford Tennis Club
Located close to Stratford Theatre, Stratford Tennis Club operates two hard courts and four Hard Tru courts. JUSTFOURTENNIS were retained to undertake repairs to minor perimeter cracks and full resurfacing of both courts. The Club provides an extensive junior program which utilizes the Club’s hard courts. JUSTFOURTENNIS were asked to work with the junior program schedule to avoid any disruptions to the program. The close proximity of surrounding cedar trees required particular attention to cleaning methods. The existing surfacing was in good condition, so the standard resurfacing solution (1 coat of resurfacer and 2 coats of colour) were proposed. JUSTFOURTENNIS offered an enhanced solution – the resurfacer was tinted the same colour as the inner and outer court colours to provide full colour for the total depth of surfacing. This also enhanced the appearance of the final colour coats. The project was completed in 9 working days, with no disruption to the junior program.

Harbour Gates Condominiums
Located in Grand Bend, Harbour Gates Condominiums provide residents with a swimming pool and tennis court the latter of which was in desperate need of maintenance. The court is located adjacent to a row of cedar trees which provide a significant amount of shade throughout the day. This had an adverse effect on the surfacing and asphalt causing accelerated fatigue of the upper surface. JUSTFOURTENNIS were asked to provide multiple options to resurface the court with an understanding that funds were limited. The owner selected JUSTFOURTENNIS to install a two coat/two colour resurfacing option. Particular attention was paid to the cleaning process to insure all existing surfacing that had lost its adhesion with the underlying asphalt was removed. It was also important that the work be undertaken while ambient tempertures were at their summer's best – this allowed the court to dry thoroughly before new surfacing was applied. JUSTFOURTENNIS provided a resurfacer that was tinted to the

JUSTFOURTENNIS provided a resurfacer that was tinted to the same colour as the final colour coat and contained a slightly higher sand content to insure the fill characteristic of the resurfacer were optimized.
